AMA Max Awards – Brand Champion Nominations

The Brand Champion is a local brand (individual, company or product that originates from the Greater New Orleans metro area) that has distinguished itself in the past year through successful and/or innovative marketing strategies and techniques. Because most successful brands are the result of not one individual but a team of people and partners, AMA would like to recognize the total effort.

AMA MAX Awards Luncheon: Call for Entries

The 2011 Marketing Awards of Excellence (MAX) will honor marketing programs executed in the year 2010, which are deemed by a panel of judges to be true examples of marketing excellence. Winners will be recognized at the AMA New Orleans Awards Luncheon on June 9, 2011 at the The National WWII Museum.

Much like the National Effie Awards, the MAX competition is about effectiveness. Entries will be judged on how the various marketing elements – strategy, creative, media, research – worked together to achieve measurable results. We will also recognize an individual, company or product as Brand Champion of the Year.

ELIGIBILITY: Both New Orleans AMA members and non-members are invited to enter the MAX Awards and Brand Champion of the Year competition.

  • Any company, non-profit organization, marketing / advertising agency, or consulting service which developed and implemented a marketing program in Louisiana during the calendar year 2010 is eligible to enter the MAX competition.
  • Campaigns must have launched during the respective calendar year and have results relative to 2010 to qualify.
  • Student entries may be submitted for work done in an academic environment for a grade, a class project or a student competition.

  1. Visual Branding / Identity – Logo, branding and identity systems
  2. Integrated Marketing Campaign – Integrated campaign that aligns multiple media with specific audience needs/wants
  3. Direct Response Marketing – Campaign with a direct response objective to generate leads or responses
  4. E-mail Marketing – Direct Response campaign using e-mail as a primary communication medium
  5. Web & Interactive Marketing – Web presence or interactive marketing vehicle delivered online
  6. Search Marketing – Use of search optimization techniques to improve website traffic
  7. Social Media Marketing – Use of Web 2.0 tools and/or websites to affect desired audience response to a product, service or brand

Go Red with the American Heart Association

The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: “Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.” The association’s impact goal is, by 2020, to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent. Heart disease continues to be the No. 1 killer of all Americans, affecting one in three people.

One hundred percent of the funds raised in New Orleans is invested back into the New Orleans community through educational outreach programs, CPR training and certification, placement of automated external defibrillators, and funding for groundbreaking medical research.

This year alone, the local American Heart Association invested almost $2.5 million into research with such institutions as Ochsner, Tulane, and Louisiana State University.

AMA Speaker Luncheon Series Moves to a New Location

AMA New Orleans is pleased to announce that the new location for our speaker luncheon series is the Audubon Tea Room.

After much success from our October luncheon in the facility, we will be hosting the remaining luncheons of our 2010-2011 programming year at Audubon Tea Room located just outside the zoo at 6500 Magazine Street. Our first luncheon at the new facility will be on Wednesday, February 9. Check your inbox or here on our website for registration information.

LA “Museum of the Year” – The Historic New Orleans Collection

The Historic New Orleans Collection is a museum, research center and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South. The institution was founded in 1966 by General and Mrs. L. Kemper Williams. Longtime New Orleans residents and avid collectors, the Williams’ established the organization to keep their collections intact and available to the public. In the 40-plus years since its inception, The Collection has augmented its holdings and physical properties, established ambitious publishing and exhibition schedules, and developed innovative educational programs.

The Collection operates two facilities in the French Quarter. The principal gallery, guided tours and museum shop are located in a complex of historical French Quarter buildings at 533 Royal Street. The Williams Research Center, at 410 Chartres Street, opened in 1996 and houses the archive, library, reading room and additional exhibition space. The Collection’s holdings comprise some 35,000 library items, more than two miles of documents and manuscripts, and approximately 350,000 photographs, prints, drawings, paintings and other artifacts.

  • The Collection’s latest and most ambitious publication, Furnishing Louisiana: Creole and Acadian Furniture, 1735 – 1835, is the first comprehensive study of early Louisiana-made furniture. The volume, beautifully illustrated with more than 1,200 images, is available online at www.hnoc.org and Amazon.com, in The Collection’s gift shop and in various book stores around the city.
